My Angels..

So with Mother's Day coming up, I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father that he blessed me with my two beautiful daughters. They are truly the lights in my life and I vouldn't have asked for better children. I sometimes can't believe that the Lord trusted me with these two beautiful beings. But I am so happy to be able to call them mine.

My latest Creations...

Well I've done another cake! And I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. My Mary Kay Director was putting together the 2nd annual Spring Tea for her daughter's school. And she asked me to do a cake for it. So I thought about it and decided what I though would look "springy". Everyone loved it. Which made me feel like I had accomplished my goal. :) And the whole event was just wonderful. It's done the Sunday before Mother's Day and its a Mother/Daughter event. It's a chance for girls to get all dressed up in pretty dresses and hats and have time with mom. Or grandma. I'm going to take both of my girls to it next year. Just awesome!

Career Conference 2011

So I had an awesome opportunity to go to the annual Career Conference in Anchorage. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it was. I had been looking forward to it for weeks and I was NOT disappointed. We had an amazing woman named Judy Brack came to teach and talk with us. She is a National Sales Director for Mary Kay (that's a high up position). This woman is phenomenal! She made you feel warm and fuzzy while teaching you all at the same time.
The hotel we stayed in (we stayed in the same hotel where the conference was held) was just beautiful! But not only was it easy on the eyes, the service was top notch. I have never been in a hotel with such great service. I will definitely be staying there again. Oh! By the way, it was the Sheraton.
And the food! Oh the food! I swear I gained 5 pounds in 2 days. Haha. Because I had achieved certain goals and accomplished certain things, I qualified for some awesome stuff. Like eating with Judy. And those meals were "meals". I've got a smile on my face just thinking about it. :) There's a lot of pictures. I couldn't leave anything off. Enjoy!

Mariah's wedding

My friend got married on March 26th. I made the cake, was a bridesmaid, helped her plan the wedding, decorated for the wedding, etc, etc. Lol. I'm glad her day went off without a hitch and it was absolutely beautiful! And she was so happy!

She hired someone to come out and do every one's hair. I really liked the curls in the back.

My latest Creations...

My friend Mariah got married last weekend and she asked me to make her cake for her. I had fun with it and I'm pretty proud of what I did. (If I do say so myself)

She wanted crystals hanging down so I got creative and made these.

The cake is covered in chocolate fondant. It was a mixture of white and chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream and fresh sliced strawberries between the layers.

I made this cake for a lady I know. It was her church's 26th anniversary. I covered the cake in butter cream, and the 26 and the plaque in front are made our of rice crispies and then covered in fondant. I wrote on the plaque right before I delivered it.

So I've made another cake. It's for a church get together tomorrow. It started off frustrating cause nothing was turning out like I wanted, but I had a little fairy godmother looking over my shoulder. :) And with her help it all came together. She's my brain when I get impatient and frustrated.  But it turned out great and I'm proud of it. Of course there's things that I'll do better next time. But isn't that always the case?..

Rango...

So I like to catch movies when I can and I LOVE to read. So I think I'm going to write little reviews about the movies I see and the books I read. I don't know about you, but I like talking to someone I know about these kinds of things rather than reading reviews from people I've never met.
So today is the movie Rango........
Well.... hmm... I was disappointed. The movie is rated PG, and it's geared towards kids. So someone please explain to me why the word 'hell' was said FOUR times and 'damn' once?  !!!!!!! Hellooooo. Really? You think our children need to watch a movie like that? I had my 5 year old with me!
The movie played out like an old western. And what are old westerns full of? Death! Throughout the entire movie they kept talking about death and saying things like "your gonna die", "he's gonna die". And they had these Mariachi Band like birds acting as narrators and they also sang of death every time they came on the screen. And to top it off, there's this scary snake character that scared my kid. And he's not a nice character at all. I even thought he was scary. And NO WHERE in a kids movie should there be constant drinking and smoking. I'm sorry, but NO!
Now I've got a few positive things to say about it. As always, Johnny Depp is very talented. And all the actors who did voice overs did a great job. And the graphics were great. I mean when they showed a characters face you saw every wrinkle and whisker.
But I really wouldn't take your kids to see this. Maybe teens and above. There are sexual innuendos, adult jokes, and only an adult is going to know who the surprise character is at the end. My husband thought it was funny, I really didn't. The whole time I kept thinking "my daughter should not be watching this". I wish we had gone to see "Gnomio and Juliet". I heard that movie was kinda dumb for adults, but great for kids. And when it comes to a "kids movie" that's what I expect. I'm thinking we might have to go see that just to get Rango from our minds.
